13 Years of Love

We celebrated our anniversary in January.  13 years.  Wow - it's gone by fast.  Of course it was bitter, bitter cold here (it is Minnesota after all) so we snuck off to Hell's Kitchen for dinner (do you get the irony - it's always hot in h***).  As always, being out - alone - was fun despite not being all that impressed by the restaurant which claimed to have d*** good food.  It's always fun to try someplace new so I'm glad we went.  All in all, our anniversary was pretty low key.  But we did start a new tradition this year which I love.  To celebrate our happy union all year, David and I have started meeting once a month for a lunch date.  And it feels like we're dating again.  So very fun.  Of course, how could it be anything but fun - I'm with my husband, it's relatively quiet, we don't have to cut anyone's food or fill anyone's glass with milk, we get to eat yummy food cooked by someone else and the best part, they clean up as well.  Perfect!

I am so lucky to have this husband of mine.  When I was single, I dreamed of big romantic gestures, but now that I'm married, the smaller, more significant ones mean much, much more to me.  Like last Sunday when David told me what a good mother I was.  His sincere words were all the more meaningful because I had not really been that great just the day before.  But I could tell his comments were sincere and came straight from his heart.  He believes in me even when I'm seriously doubting myself.  And that's what a spouse should be - your best friend and greatest support.

To help us celebrate, our children created these awesome domino structures (heart and the word "love").  They got to push down the heart one and gave us a honor of pushing over the love one.
