Oral Surgery

Mary had oral surgery today.  Turns out that instead of two front teeth, Mary had three so one had to be removed.  Her dentist/surgeon pulled the two baby teeth, removed the third permanent tooth, and took out a loose tooth on the bottom as a safety precaution for the breathing tube used during surgery.

Mary was all smiles at 6:00 a.m. before we left . . .

and charmed the doctors and nurses at the surgical center as well.

Coming out of the anesthesia was rough the first hour.  "My mouth hurts and my hand hurts . . . oh why did we come here?????  This isn't a very good day!"  We removed the IV, gave her some Motrin, nodded when the nurses asked if they should leave the room, and turned on the Disney channel.  Things improved and we brought her home.  After an hour, she was her normal, happy, little self with a swollen lip and some missing teeth :) . . .

And you gotta love these 'slippers' from the surgical center.  Hmm, wonder how much those cost us :).
