Dear Mom and Dad,
This will probably be a short letter because while this week
has been busy, not all that exciting.
First of all, I spent a lot of time volunteering. I helped set up and serve food at a
funeral on Monday. Spent most of
Tuesday making cookies and preparing for our monthly Relief Society meeting
that night. My companion and I
visit taught on Thursday after which I picked up the son of a friend from
preschool because she had some outpatient surgery that morning and wasn’t
allowed to drive. And Friday, I spent
the morning at the school with 3 other mothers classifying books according to
reading level for Laurel’s classroom library.
My goals for the week were to get caught up on laundry,
bills, and finish the curtains for Laurel & Mary’s room. I am pleased to say I met all three of
my goals, the biggest being finally getting the curtains hung. I’ve included some before and after
pictures of Laurel & Mary’s room.
It was a big relief to finally cross their room off as done.
I took Jacob to the doctor on Monday to have three planters
warts removed. We almost walked
out because the doctor left us in the room for 40 minutes before coming in only
to tell us he really can’t help with warts. I insisted they at least try so the doctor “froze” the 3
warts, but we haven’t been able to see much change over the course of the week
so the whole thing was probably a waste of time and money.
Jacob was invited to an overnight birthday party Friday
night. We let him decide how long
he wanted to stay. He came home at
12:30 a.m., which would have been fine, if he hadn’t had a cross-country meet
the next day. He got on the bus at
7:30 a.m. and ran at 11:25. He ran
1.5 miles in 10:25 - a 6.8-minute mile.
Jacob kept saying he could have run it faster if he hadn’t felt so tired,
but we thought he did well, especially considering how little sleep he’d
gotten. After running, Jacob then
went to mow for the couple in our ward so he had a full and exhausting day.
David took the afternoon off of work on Wednesday so we
could celebrate our birthdays while the kids were in school. We went out for lunch then purchased a
movie at Target and watched it here in the afternoon. It was kind of fun to play hooky while all the kids were in
school :).
Well this is all of our news for the week. We hope all is going well for both of
you. Have a great week.
Love you,
David, Ella, Jacob, Charlotte, Laurel, & Mary
