Sometimes when I read a Valentine's Day post on a friend or family member's blog, I feel a little down because those posts usually include a detailed description of some great date with chocolates and flowers thrown in for good measure. That is not our typical experience around here. Probably five years ago, David and I stopped going out on Valentine's Day as a couple and the holiday morphed into a kid-focused celebration. This year we dropped even lower on the romantic scale in that we weren't even together focusing on our kids. Yep - we had to divide to conquer so this most romantic of holidays was spent as follows: David attended a Timberwolves game with Jacob while the girls and I had a fancy dinner (i.e., china, cloth napkins, french bread dipped in olive oil) at home. At least cupid found us as usual, only he had to adjust too . . . our candy treats were delivered in the morning instead of his typical evening visit.
