This Shopping Is Really Fun!

So exclaimed Laurel this evening after leaving the third store on our quest for school clothes with bags in tow.  Charlotte kept saying how fun it was that we had multiple bags to carry.  And I must admit, it felt like we were in a movie carting our shopping bags with us as we went from place to place.  Laurel was right - we had a lot of fun tonight.  In the past, we've also drug along Mary, but three girls with one Mom is just one girl too many.  Things quickly go from fun to stressful as multiple people tend to need me all at the same time.  But tonight was easy.  Charlotte was so patient and genuinely happy for Laurel as we found cute bargains and necessary school items.  Laurel happily tagged along as we shopped for Charlotte.  Things between the girls aren't always so harmonious so tonight was especially sweet for me.

And tonight we made our first purchase at Justice.  Yes, this was our first trip ever to Justice and we only went in because it happened to be close to Claire's.  I have a natural negative bias towards "popular" stores so I was ready to be totally disgusted with the merchandise and the people who shopped there.  But two brief minutes inside that store and I was as thrilled as my girls.  Everything was 40% off.  We found t-shirts for $6.50.  Charlotte looks fabulous in red, but red shirts are hard to find for girls.  Justice had a cute red shirt in her size and did I mention it was 40% off?  And we found a church outfit for Laurel - can you believe it - we found a church skirt & shirt for Laurel at Justice!!!!!  Laurel's going to be a hippie when she grows up . . . or at least that's the way she likes to dress.  She prefers wearing her hair straight and parted in the middle and she is really into the long, flowing prairie skirts.  So when we found one of those flowing skirts for $20, I decided to buy it.  I could try to make her one but by the time I purchased the material and tried to sew the thing plus all the yelling and maybe a few cuss words that would be involved in the process, I thought purchasing the skirt a better choice :).  And as if to confirm that I did the right thing, when we made a bathroom stop mid shopping, we passed an older woman (former hippie, I'm sure) wearing bell-bottoms so flared that both of the girls could have fit into the pant leg and Laurel cries out, "What cool pants!"  Yep, we've got a future hippie for sure.

Oh happy day . . . this was fun!

  1. Am I the only one that finds it delightfully funny that you have a flowering hippie on your hands? I'm smiling over here.

I loved getting to see and visit with you while in Cowley. I shall always, always adore you, you know.

Mom also told me that your mom was thrilled with the book you made them. Thought you should know she's been braggin you up, expecially after all the work that was involved!

    xoxo
