Perfect Day

Today was exactly the type of summer day I want for us. I knew things were going to be great when I heard Jacob practicing the piano without me reminding him. Charlotte soon followed. After breakfast, I went to work making cakes for our family reunion in two weeks. Jacob and Charlotte helped the younger girls get ready for the day. Then the four kids worked on our shredding pile, cleaned out the van, found all of the cards for a game, and emptied the garbage, allowing me to finish and freeze the cakes for the reunion. We then played a game, had lunch, and headed for the pool where we spent the next three hours enjoying the sun and water. A perfect combination of work and fun. Today was perfect! Perhaps I've been wrong these past two weeks - it's not the kids who need to adjust to a summer routine, but actually their mother :). It's going to be a beautiful summer!

  1. Is it okay if I envy your day for just a minute. I've been home alone with the kids for four days while Thomas was in New York. Need I say more. (I will never, ever leave him. Single parenthood stinks!) Okay, done envying now. Just purely happy that you had a wonderful day. Hope you get lots more of them this summer!
