She's only 6

I often forget that Laurel is only 6.  After all, she's almost as tall as Charlotte and frankly, I get used to the skills of my older kids.  Today we rushed to school and parked so we could spend 2-3 precious minutes reading a book as a family, "Gregor the Overlander" (I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to read with my kids and we're all enjoying this book).  The bell rang and the kids began to go in, grade by grade.  I let my kids out of the car and I could see Laurel's leg moving nervously as she waited for the crossing guards to let her cross the street.  Once across, she took off running because she was late.  Of course, I know she still has 10 minutes to get to her classroom and put away her stuff, but when you're six and your line has already entered the building, you're anxious.  Just watching her run to the doors as fast as she could reminded me that she's six.  Shame on me for forgetting that she's still so young and expecting so much from her.  I love you Laurel.  I love that you're six and with that age comes a bit of silliness & craziness every single day.  I am going to spend the rest of this year until your birthday appreciating your six-ness and all that entails :).

Love you!
Mom
