Mary learned about the Princess and the Pea at preschool. So it shouldn't have taken me by surprise when I walked into her bedroom and found pillows scattered over the entire length of her floor. I gasped and then asked Mary and Paige, her playmate for the day, "What's going on?" Mary's reply, "Oh, I wanted to see if Paige was a princess . . . [pregnant pause] . . . she is." And then our values connected with a fairy tale from school - "She's a princess for Jesus and Heavenly Father. You know, we're all Heavenly Father's kids."
How true, my beautiful little girl, how true.

Hi Ella! I've really loved your past few posts. The ward boundaries in our stake were changed a few months ago and a lot of people had a really hard time with it also. And it's good to hear that your schools out there are so good because here in California the education system is really suffering. And lastly, Mary is a SMART girl! Sounds like she knows her stuff :)
ReplyDeleteAaw that is sooo cute! :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I can sooooo relate to the mom homework post. My son's first grade teacher loves "family" assignments where together we have to come up with a family crest, including a motto, a symbol, colors, and flag. Or a blessings turkey where we as a family list our blessings and decorate the turkey in a fun and creative way. I'm like: Are you kidding? And then I got it. This is to help families who are not spending enough time together. But I desperately want to tell her "We're not one of those!" We already have family night, family scripture study, reading time, let alone all the practices, piano, church events, scouting stuff, chores, homework, math facts, articles of faith, etc, etc, etc that I oversee, teach, and model!!! Aaaaarrrrrggghh!
