Conversation with Laurel

Mom: Laurel, go help Mary scoop the poop (cat litter).

Laurel: Maaaaaoooom, I'm scared and she didn't help ME with my chore this morning.

Mom: Laurel, I don't care, she's downstairs and I need you to help her so she doesn't feel scared.

Laurel: I'm not going to save her because I'm scared too.

Mom laughs - Laurel goes.

Mom wishes she understood what made the nicely finished, well-lit basement so scary that her kids need saving :).

  1. My Griffin won't go upstairs at night by himself either. When I get really desperate I tell him to take the dog.

  2. Laurel, BIG sisters are suppose to be brave and have the ability to fight off any intruder or any animal, and be able to ignore any creepy sound you might hear or think you hear. And besides, one Big scream and you’re Mom would be right there anyway.

  3. what is it with basements? My kids are afraid too. I don't like them either, truth be told. I like the take the dog idea tho- only our dog won't go in the basement either. Hmm. :)
