David called home Friday afternoon to ask what we had planned for the evening. I said my planwas to relax (we've had a very busy week). Typical for David, he replied that he had discovered something fun for us to do but would not reveal his surprise until he got home. The mystery activity was geocaching. We loaded 3 sets of coordinates onto his phone and set off into the woods. After tromping over multiple fallen logs and decaying leaves, we realized that most stashers put their containers somewhat close to a path. We were definitely taking the hard route, literally paving our way through the brush. (This greatly increased my admiration for the men and women who turned Minnesota's forests into crop land). Despite our first rough treks, we are now completely hooked. Today we made 7 finds. We ran into a couple of people who have been geocaching for 5 years (we still found the cache before they did). We left a token of our family and signed all of the notebooks and are planning to put one out ourselves. We have even searched coordinates for our future vacation. Yes, you could say we have a new favorite family hobby.
