Mary's Scripture

Today Mary 'read' her first scripture for Primary opening exercises. I marvel at the incredible benefit her experiences in Primary will add to her life. What a blessing that a 3-year-old can stand in front of her peers and give a talk or share a scripture. David spends so much time at work coaching people on how to present and/or overcome a fear of speaking in front of others. And here is out tiny daughter already doing it. How much further ahead she'll be on the public-speaking front. I can't think of any way these small experiences in a safe church environment won't help her in her future no matter what she decides to pursue. I am grateful for Mary and proud of her courage. I must add, that while I was a bit nervous (not sure what she'd actually say since she sort of ad-libbed when we practiced at home), that Mary didn't manifest any fear at all ~ only a determination to do a good job followed by a well-deserved sense of pride.

And since I'm posting about Mary, I thought I'd add some of her unique vocabulary . . .

the car bump (as in, let's go to it again) = Demolition derby her Dad took her to
running cow thing (as in, why didn't I get $20 for chasing that cow?) = Rodeo
the one that slides into my eyes (as in, be careful Mom) = Shampoo
the one that doesn't slide into my eyes (as in, I can do it MYSELF) = Conditioner

  1. Hey Ella,
I just wanted to let you know how much I love reading your blog! You guys do such fun things with your kids and they are so cute and so funny. I don't think I have ever jumped over to you blog without laughing about some comment they have made. I also wanted to thank you (a little late) for the fabulous reunion that you put together. I'm so glad that I came - it was such a good time!

  2. Ella--
This is Brittany, your new niece (Aaron's wife). :) I saw your blog on Kyla and Dawn's pages and thought I'd say hi! It was so awesome getting to know you guys at the family reunion, and I hope we can stay in touch a little bit. Thanks so much for doing that--it was really great! Your kids are so fun, too. You'll have to tell them hi for me.
I just started a blog too, and can invite you to it if you like. Maybe I can get your email address from Aaron or someone...
