Saturday Update

Thank you to all of you who are interested in what's going on with my Dad and praying for all of us. I really appreciate it. I heard from my Mom this morning and this is the latest email I sent to my brothers, aunt, and some of my nephews/nieces:

Dad received a cat scan this morning at 4:15 a.m. (didn't know they did them that early, but they did). The doctor said everything looks good. There is no blood in there any more, but fluid and air which is continuing to cause confusion - LOTS of confusion. Mom said it was a VERY rough night last night. Dad became angry because they wanted him to lie flat the whole night and use a bed pan, and of course, he didn't want to. He was yelling, etc., and it got so bad that they finally had to tie him down. He then wanted Mom to untie him which is uncomfortable for her. He thought the nurses were BLM guys and he was going to sue them for harassment. Hence, the early morning cat scan. No one got any sleep until after 2:00 a.m., but thank goodness Mom now has a pillow, a recliner and blankets so she did get some rest.

The doctor came in early this morning and said the drain wasn't working right. The doctor raised Dad's bed from 10% to 30% and the drain started to work as it should so they are going to leave it in at least until tomorrow. The really good news is that his strength in his right side has returned and he knows his full name (last night he kept saying his name was angel), his birthdate, and his age. The doctor said the air and the clear fluids on his brain are causing the continued confusion and as they drain out, his coherence will get better (Mom certainly hopes so).

On a less important note, Mom doesn't have her cell phone charger with her and only two bars on her phone, so while she still would enjoy phone calls, we should probably keep them brief. Scott or Melinda, if you are going to Billings, could you take her charger up with you?

Overall, Mom did sound really good. She actually laughed a little. We both feel that it is a good sign that his strength on the right side is coming back which bodes well that his usual clear mind will also return.
